This is a photo taken of the library after the 1981 renovation, but before it was open to the public. It features the new fireplace with two Hans Wegner chairs in front. A climbing plant sits inside a large planter made by Beaumont Mood is to the right of the fireplace. Floor-to-ceiling windows are on either side of the fireplace. Two large globe-shaped pottery lamps, also Beaumont Mood, hang from it.

<p>In the mid-to-late 1960s, the Denton Municipal Complex was designed by Texas architect O'Neil Ford, who commissioned Martha and Beaumont Mood to make pottery lamps, planters, and urns for each of the buildings.</p>
<p>The 1981 expansion to the Emily Fowler Library added a split-level floor and a breezeway to the front of the building.<br /><br />In addition to more Beaumont Mood pottery lamps, Ford approached another San Antonio artisan, Charlene deJori to make exterior lighting for the front of the building. <br /><br /><br /></p>

A ceramic planter made by Beaumont Mood for the library sits in front of the fireplace of the Emily Fowler Library. This picture was taken during the 1980-81 renovation, just before it reopened. We do not know if it was made for the library's 1968 or 1981 renovation.
It has been suggested that the pattern in the planters is reminiscent of Lynn Ford's carvings.
At some unknown time, the planter, along with several others, was put into storage because of space issues. Some of them have been moved to the library only recently for evaluation purposes.
This planter is in okay condition, but it has been damaged and repaired, although without any infill. There are numerous chips.
