Title
Front desk of the Denton City-County Library
Description
The front desk of the newly renovated Denton City-County Library, c1969. This photo was taken for the City of Denton newsletter.
The expansion was completed and the Library re-opened in 1969. Designed by O'Neil Ford, the library featured stick wood carvings by Lynn Ford, brother of the architect, hand-crafted pottery lamps and urns by the Beaumont Mood Lighting Company in San Antonio, Texas, and Mexican Brick made by Acme Brick Company of Denton, who created that particular style and called it Clinton El Ford Blend.
Decorating the area behind the checkout desk is a Denton County historical map mural by Mrs. Tommye E. Noel, taken from an original by Sena M. Wright.
