Title
Front desk of the Denton City-County Library
Description
The front desk of the newly renovated Denton City-County Library, c1969. This photo was taken for the City of Denton employee newsletter.
Designed by O'Neil Ford, the library featured stick-wood carvings by Lynn Ford, hand-crafted pottery lamps and urns by the Beaumont Mood Lighting Company in San Antonio, Texas. The Mexican bricks were crafted by the Acme Brick Company here in Denton. They created that particular style for Ford and called it Clinton El Ford Blend.
Decorating the area behind the checkout desk is a Denton County historical map mural by Mrs. Tommye E. Noel, taken from an original by Sena M. Wright.
