This ceramic light fixture shell was fabricated by Beaumont Mood of San Antonio, Texas. It was commissioned by O'Neil Ford in 1968 for the Emily Fowler Central Library. It is 16" x 16" with geometric patterns and blue, brown, and white glaze. It has some chips and an 8" hairline crack.<br />

This photo was taken in 2005, after the library had reopened due to renovations. The installation of chip carvings by Lynn Ford were hung on the north wall which was painted a rust red.

Four-ton all-metal sculpture, salvaged from the remains of the old Kimbell Flour Mill, Trinity Industries, and Harpool's Seed Cleaning Plant, all businesses from Denton, Texas. The metal had sat in a "junk" pile behind Harpool Seed's grain elevator and was donated by Tom Harpool.<br />
<br />
Completed in 1980, the work was commissioned by Arnold Austad for the library at a cost of $5,000; it took him two months to complete.<br />
<br />
The two large metal basins were used to circulate water for the fountain. Some controversy took place after the Austad painted the fountain with red oxide to prevent rust first. The public had expected it to be forest green and some were disappointed by the color. Later it would be painted black.<br />
<br />
The fountain was disconnected around 2008 due to vandalism and turned into a planter. Plans to preserve and reconnect it began in 2022.

This wall sconce is on the outermost edge of the west side of the building and faces the park. There is a large crack along the upper-right-hand corner. The blue bands appear to have black scuff marks or dirt on them. The glaze on the middle area and two bands surrounding has faded or worn off extensively.
Ceramic light fixtures along the exterior wall of the Denton Civic Center are made from red clay. As they have weathered, they have turned a pinkish-hue. Over the years, some have been broken due to hail or vandalism.

This handmade brass and tin light is shining brightly on a cloudy day inside Denton City Hall.
Six brass and tin lamps line the wall to the Denton City Council chambers. Another four can be found in a nearby alcove that overlooks the courtyard. Of the four in the alcove, three of them are smaller and boxy-shaped.
