The mural is an enlarged and colored edition of a map created by Sena Mounts Wright and painted by Denton artist Irene Grady. She added the border, illustrating the first cattle brands registered in Denton County. The original map was painted in 1949 and covered the entire wall behind the front desk of the library. A second smaller map was completed for the 1969 renovation of the building.<br />

A custom-made fireplace screen was commissioned by local stained glass artisan, Christie Wood, in 2006.<br />
<br />
Two peacock chairs designed by Hans J. Wegner flank the fireplace; they were given to the library in memory of Luke Wilson by his friends in 1981.

This sculpture of a rose by Jack Zavatsky, was a gift to the library by Dr. George and Peggy Hendricks in memory of their daughter, Helen. It lives at the South Branch Library.

A photograph by Thomas Judd was given to the Emily Fowler Library by Randall S. Boyd in 2017. It currently hangs in an alcove on the east wall of the lower level.

The City of Denton Parks and Recreation Department built the foundation and the sand enclosure for the memorial. The structure itself was constructed by Alvin Ellis, under the supervision of Mount-Miller Architects. The project had the approval of the Municipal Complex architect O’Neil Ford. In addition to the exhibit, there are many things going on in this photograph of importance. First of all, this is one of the few photographs that capture the Mexican brick flooring that was in the 1968 addition to the library. It was made by Acme Brick Co. for O'Neil Ford and was called "el Fordo". The wall of chip carvings was made by Lynn Ford, brother of O'Neil Ford and well-known for his woodcarvings and metal work.

The first photo shows the newly added extension to the Emily Fowler Library which was designed by O'Neil Ford and added in 1969. The second view was taken after the building was expanded in 1980-81 to include an upper level.

The sculpture was purchased by the Denton Parks, Recreation, and Beautification Board from the Russell Tether Fine Art Gallery as public art in 2012 at a cost of $5,000.<br />

It is a 45 3/4" tall cast stone sculpture and has a base of 10 1/2" x 11 7/8". The sculpture was completed in 1940.<br />

Five ceramic lamps hang from a wooden pergola on the south exterior side of the Emily Fowler Central Library.

Ten Beaumont Mood flush-mount ceramic lights hang from a suspended ceiling. They are a salmon color with an "elephant blue" band at the top.
